Superman Internet-ClusterFuck

Posted on 13:17 by rajrani
I am as excited as the next Superman fan about the Man of Steel premiere. I love super-cool-no-way-in-hell-this-would-happen-in-real-life-fantasy-movies. Especially when you consider the price of a movie ticket

But excitement is one thing — And trying to milk the internet popularity of Man of Steel is another — not that I have a problem with trying to boost traffic. The problem is when they overdo it with senseless crap.

Examples:
USA TODAY: Why Superman is the greatest American hero
The Man of Steel, in movies and comic books, has reflected us during the past 75 years. All-American Superman. Superman may have undergone some changes over the years but he still remains the all-American superhero... blah blah blah
He's NOT real!

RollingStone : The Superman We Deserve
Whether or not Man of Steel and Henry Cavill's performance in it are any good will be the subject of debate for a while. But even if you didn't like them, you have to admit that Cavill's Superman is one for our times. After all, every age gets the ... blah blah blah
The only Superman we need is one that leads to a more awesome sequel.

USA TODAY: Can Superman overcome box office Kryptonite?
While the son of Krypton remains America's most iconic superhero and one of its most popular comic books, Superman has had little luck over 35 years getting a film franchise off the ground... blah blah blah
USA Today is really on that blue utter.

Washington Post (blog): What Superman and Mitt Romney have in common
Is it the hair? Or the 'I live in a fantasy world' part?

Daily Beast: Who the Hell is Henry Cavill?
He's Superman... what rock have you been hiding under.

The Slatest: The neurological explanation for why the Daily Planet staff falls for the ...
The most powerful superhero of all time, Superman, has arguably the worst disguise of all time. A slight application of hair gel and some glasses turn the Man of Steel, the statuesque savior of humanity, into Clark Kent, a mild-mannered reporter at the... blah blah blah
You know that person that takes everything too serious?

MTV.com: 'Man of Steel': What Happened To Superman's Underwear?
Considering he's the first superhero ever created, creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster only had history to draw from when they brought Superman to life in 1938. Every major styling choice we attribute to superheroes comes from Superman: capes, tights ...
I honestly forgot that MTV existed.

NBCNews.com: From Superman saga to real-life science: It's not an impossible leap...
Yes it is.

Kansas City Star: What's next? Will Superman get some super friends?
The Kansas City Star. So the billion dollar question is ... can "Man of Steel" help DC Comics catch up to Marvel Comics at the box office?
Just wait... Kansas will catch up eventually.

Facebook Makes Hashtags Official

Posted on 04:19 by rajrani
Please do not act surprise or overreact, the hashtag has long gone beyond Twitter.

And before you begin to push #FACEBOOKCOPIESTWITTER, you should know that;
  • The Hashtag did not originate with Twitter
  • A Twitter user, not a Twitter employee originated the Hashtag on Twitter.

To bring these conversations more to the forefront, we will be rolling out a series of features that surface some of the interesting discussions people are having about public events, people, and topics. As a first step, we are beginning to roll out hashtags on Facebook.

Introducing Hashtags on Facebook
Starting today, hashtags will be clickable on Facebook. Similar to other services like Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest, hashtags on Facebook allow you to add context to a post or indicate that it is part of a larger discussion. When you click on a hashtag in Facebook, you'll see a feed of what other people and Pages are saying about that event or topic.

Big-Ass iPhones Coming Soon

Posted on 04:07 by rajrani
At some point next year, making fun of people-with-big-ass-phones won't seem as funny anymore, since Apple has decided to jump on the big-ass phone bandwagon — Reuters reports that Apple is cooking up some plans for a 4.7-inch and a 5.7-inch iPhones which may be introduced next year.

UNDER PRESSURE
Apple's possible shift to offer what is often referred to as "phablets" - chunkier smartphones not quite big enough to qualify as tablets - comes as the long-time consumer and investor darling faces pressure to deliver more than one new handset model a year. Critics say its pace of innovation has slowed since the death of legendary co-founder Steve Jobs.

It seems that the Samsung's Galaxy S4 has really taken a bite out the iPhone market — which leads me to the questions; will we ever get those tiny earplug phones from Minority Report? And what happened to the time when the future of phones was suppose to be the smaller the better.

$99 iPhones?
With lots of pretty colors and cheap plastic, hopefully BPA, PVC, lead and phthalate free for your baby's safety.

BROADER PRODUCT RANGE
Analysts say the company needs a cheaper gadget to push on in growth markets in China and India, and to counter Samsung's edge in having phones priced up and down the spectrum. China, the world's biggest smartphone market, is set to grow 48 percent this year, outpacing the global increase of 31 percent, according to industry forecasts.

Welcome to the NEW Apple Inc.

Apple Novelty: Mac Pro

Posted on 20:11 by rajrani

Apple has once again taken the personal computer (desktop) and hammered it down into a tiny little space — somewhere out there, there's a group of Power Mac G4 Cube fans wiping off some drool with the back of there hands.

If you pay a visit to apple.com and go through the full presentation, you may find yourself muttering a low wow — the thing is simply hot — though the great and power Woz did not seem too impressed by Apple's latest novelty.

Radical Yet Completely Logical
The new Mac Pro looks unlike any other computer. Because it is unlike any other computer. By rethinking the architecture of its internal components, we had the chance to rethink the entire enclosure. And since everything centers around a unified thermal core, we were free to design a much leaner, lighter, quieter, and far more streamlined structure. Its unique design and beautiful finishes are executed to an extraordinary degree of precision. And at just 9.9 inches tall with a diameter of just 6.6 inches, it’s a pro desktop computer that can actually sit on your desk.
Made In The USA? WTF?
With the new Mac Pro, we’re assembling the entire product and machining several of its high-precision components in the United States. By leveraging the innovative power of industry-leading companies in Texas, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, and over a dozen other states across America, we're able to build a product that's impeccably constructed and beautiful in every detail. In other words, exactly as it was envisioned by our designers and engineers in California.
That last bit of information really caught me off guard — very smart move by Apple, considering all the negative attention that cheap overseas assembly has had lately.

The Bottom Line
If Apple doesn't make the same pricing mistake they made with the Cube, this thing may end up being a big hit — their fan base has grown considerably since then.

Ultimate Game of Thrones Spoiler

Posted on 15:42 by rajrani
The cat lovers at BuzzFeed have posted what they call:
Every Major Plot Twist In The Upcoming Seasons Of "Game Of Thrones"
Leaked documents have been circulating that reveal all the massive plot twists coming up in Game of Thrones. They’re called the books. [Ed. note: Spoilers, obviously.]
If you are a fan and hate spoilers: STAY AWAY!

The post reveals many important moments from the story, which go as far as season 6.

I began watching the HBO Game of Thrones series at the beginning of season two. Halfway through the season I decided that I was enjoying it too much to wait another week, and began to read the books.

A few weeks before the beginning of season 3, I was all done with book 5 (A Dance with Dragons).

So for me, there are no spoilers — and there never will be because I will jump on books 6 and 7 on day one of their release.

iOS 7 - New iPhone & New iTunes Radio

Posted on 06:04 by rajrani
Apple iOs 7

Apple has unveiled a new operating system for the iPhone and iPad - which actually just makes it look more like the other smart phones out there.

Here's a word from a trusted Apple geek - John Gruber:
The design of iOS 7 is based on rules. There’s an intricate system at work, a Z-axis of layers organized in a logical way. There is a profound reduction in the use of faux-3D visual effects and textures, but iOS 7 is anything but flat. It is three dimensional not just visually but logically. It uses translucency not to show off, but to provide you with a sense of place. When you pull the new Control Center panel up from the bottom of the screen, its translucency lets you know that you haven’t gone somewhere new, you’re just looking at something over where you were.
But there is one awesome new feature which I must give praise for - The Kill Switch!

The Kill Switch feature is a theft deterrent — if you lose your iPhone, or if some jack-ass steals it, you hit the kill switch and your mini-computer becomes a paper weight which can only get reactivated by you and no one else - though, I would just give it a few months before someone can crack that.

iTunes Radio
Apple also unveiled a new(old)  subscription Internet radio service called iTunes Radio. Members will be able to personalize their music based on what they've listened to and what they've purchased on iTunes.

iTunes Radio will be free with advertisements, and will be available this fall in the U.S. A commercial-free version will be available for subscribers of Apple's iTunes Match music-storage service - costs $25 a year.

Megan Fox in Transformers 4?

Posted on 18:37 by rajrani
Rumor has it, that Megan Fox may return in Transformers 4.

Via BleedingCool:
So the Paramount Pictures official Instagram page posted a photo of the new Lamborghini on their page with the hashtag #MeganFox. Could this be telling us something or (more realistically) is this a mistake or plot to get more views?
Great! But I was really hoping to see Rosie Huntington-Whiteley strut around in that white dress again.
